Booz Allen Hamilton (BAH) hosted over 80 NSLI-Y alumni gathered at its McLean, Virginia offices for Pathways to the Future 2014, a career development and networking event focused on developing crucial skills for public and private sector careers that utilize critical language proficiency and cultural understanding. Pathways to the Future 2014 was sponsored by BAH, in partnership with the U.S. Department of State and American Councils. Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Evan Ryan delivered the key note speech and was later joined on a panel by American Councils President Dr. Dan Davidson and Cheryl Steele, Senior Associate at BAH. In a second panel, BAH Lead Associates and Creative Directors, Michael Dumlao and Joseph Smallwood, spoke about strengthening one’s digital brand on social media platforms for career development purposes. In addition to the networking event, NSLI-Y alumni representatives and NSLI-Y alumni travel grant recipients participated in the Alumni Association Fall Conference, September 19 - 21 at American Councils. Participants brainstormed and set goals for expanding the alumni network, connecting with fellow alumni in their local areas, and promoting educational outreach among alumni. Conference attendees came away from the weekend inspired by the speakers and peers and motivated to connect with fellow alumni in their region and grow the NSLI-Y Alumni Association.
