NSLI-Y Interactive is excited to announce the final Virtual Event of the 2016-2017 Academic Year featuring current Academic Year students on the NSLI-Y Korean program in Seoul, Korea. On February 22nd, 2017, NSLI-Y Interactive hosted the virtual event “Russian Language Learning Strategies.” Five current NSLI-Y Moldova students gave presentations in Russian to two Russian language classrooms in the U.S. (Baltimore, Maryland and Anchorage, Alaska). The NSLI-Y students shared about their lives in Moldova and how they maximize an immersion environment for language learning. On January 17th, NSLI-Y Interactive hosted the first event of 2017 featuring students on the NSLI-Y Arabic Academic Year program in Rabat. Three NSLI-Y students presented on topics related to Diversity in Morocco including race, ethnicity, and their manifestations in Morocco today, religious diversity in Morocco, and gender and its effects on society. On November 15th 2016, NSLI-Y Interactive hosted the virtual event “Relationship Building in Language Immersion.” Three current NSLI-Y Taiwan students gave presentations in Chinese to two Chinese language classrooms in the U.S. The NSLI-Y students shared about the relationships they have built with their host family, school peers, and local community members. Global Education Conference Announcement
The Global Education Conference is an annual free, week-long online event bringing together educators, students and innovators from around the world. The conference seeks to present ideas, examples, and projects all related to international education and global competency. This year, the virtual conference event was held 24/7 from November 13-16, 2016. On October 17, 2016, NSLI-Y Interactive hosted the virtual event “First Impressions of India.” Three current NSLI-Y students shared their first impressions of India, as well as their Hindi language goals for the year. On May 16, 2016, NSLI-Y Interactive hosted a virtual event, “Arabic Capstone Project.” Five NSLI-Y students, who are finishing up their Arabic Academic Year programs in Morocco, presented on what they learned about Morocco (Hospitality, Hip Hop, Dating, Street Dancing) through work on their final Capstone projects.
