By Janel, NSLI-Y Oman, Summer 2015

In the summer of 2015, I was incredibly fortunate to receive a NSLI-Y scholarship to study Arabic in Muscat, Oman.

In just under seven weeks, I went from not knowing the alphabet to being able to talk about myself and even give a four-minute presentation completely in Arabic. I also got to explore the beautiful country of Oman, learn about its culture and history, and make connections with some of the people there.

I created six short videos organized into “episodes” covering different parts of my NSLI-Y experience. They are in chronological order with the exception of “Episode 5” which has clips from school and our language partners from throughout the program.

Episode One: Flights and Orientations

Episode Two: Mosque, Muttrah, and Museums

Episode Three: Scavenger Hunts and Celebrations

Episode Four: Nizwa and Jebel Shams

Episode Five: Road Trip, School, and FGLLs

Episode Six: Farewell Dinner and Leaving
