Using NSLI-Y Interactive to incorporate virtual exchange into the classroom helps students develop the language skills and cultural competence needed to be successful in a rapidly globalizing world. Virtual exchange makes authentic culture and language practice more available to students—those in U.S. classrooms as well as those studying abroad. Below are suggestions for using NSLI-Y Interactive.
Current NSLI-Y Students, Partners, and Supporters can document group or individual experiences abroad by submitting a media story to share with others around the world and widen their perspective. These stories can include videos, photos essays, reflections, final projects and/or blog posts and must offer an insight into cultural understanding and/or language acquisition.
NSLI-Y alumni can continue to be cultural ambassadors by sharing about their experiences and reflections on program and upon their return to the U.S. through submitting a story to NSLI-Y Interactive. NSLI-Y alumni can contribute stories including videos, photo essays, reflections, final projects and/or blog posts that offer an insight into cultural understanding and/or language acquisition.
U.S. Educators and Students can join virtual events to share and listen to host country experiences on topics such as daily life abroad, culture, language learning, and local histories.
